Oprah’s Slimming Green Tea Diet: Fact or Fiction?
Oprah Endorsed Slimming Tea: Fact or Fiction?
Fiction! Oprah has not endorsed a slimming tea diet, a green tea diet or an oolong tea diet as a single means of weight loss --- at least not as far as we can discover, and we have looked and looked and looked. Oprah has said from all accounts we can find that she has added green tea to her diet. So, when all the spam starts filling your email box hyping Oprah's slimming tea diet, we encourage you to do some research for yourself before falling for the latest fad diet.
First of all, to our knowledge Oprah has not endorsed a slimming tea diet or any other diet that puts emphasis on one particular product or item, such as slimming tea, grapefruits, or any other single food diet.Â
Does Oprah Drink Slimming Tea?
Not that we know of. However, Oprah has said that she has included green tea in her diet, in this case diet meaning what she eats daily. Let's face it, Oprah has always endorsed a balanced diet on her show. With the appearance of Dr. Oz, it is obvious that Oprah does not go off on tangents or fad diets. Rather than being on a diet, Oprah and Dr. Oz have endorsed a well balanced diet --- and exercise. Green tea is a part of Oprah's daily diet according to comments she has made on the television program, although after careful review of many of her programs we can find absolutely no recommendation of slimming teas --- those herbal teas that are stuffed with laxatives and diuretics.
Reportedly one can lose as much as ten pounds in six weeks by drinking green tea rather than coffee. Note, the weight loss comes from drinking green tea, not the slimming tea.  It is no secret that tea --- green, white, black, oolong, wulong, and so on --- can increase the metabolism. We have discussed this earlier. However, the loss of a pound and a half a week is hardly the expectations of those who drink green slimming tea.Â
Adding green tea to the diet can slowly reduce one's weight if all other influences remain constant. The slow weight reduction is hardly the claim being made by those who propose the use of slimming tea.Â
Oprah Drinks Green Tea
Oprah's endorsement of green tea, not slimming tea, seems in indicate the recognition of increased metabolism as well as other positive health benefits. At the same time Oprah endorsed exercise and a fitness program, something most of us would prefer to avoid --- including Oprah. But, it must be stated that from everything we can find that is directly attributed to Oprah, slimming tea is not a recommendation. Green tea is.
