Oolong (Wu-Long) Tea Is Best Slimming Tea
Among the teas available for weight loss that do not contain an added laxative product, Wu-Long or Oolong Tea is among the best slimming teas.
Wu-Long or Oolong tea (they are the same tea, different spellings) is made from the same tea plant as all teas. Again, the difference in the green teas, the black teas, and the white teas can be found in the process. The fermentation period and the final preparations, such as curing over charcoal, all go into determining the taste, the "color" and apparently the degree of benefits. Among all teas, Wu-Long or Oolong has proved to be the most efficient for aiding in weight loss. Therefore, it is our conclusion that Wu-Long or Oolong tea is the best slimming tea.
The studies done by the Tokushima School of Medicine indicate that Wu-Long or Oolong tea is among the top natural weight loss products, based on the tea itself. The study indicates that by simply drinking two glasses of Wu-Long or Oolong tea a day will increase your bodies ability to burn fat, use up more calories and carbs. Again the emphasis on weight loss is due to the antioxidant polyphenols contained in the tea.
While these studies have indicated the benefits of Wu-Long Tea to increase weight loss, as with all other diets it is recommended that you decrease your food intake and engage in an exercise program. It should be common sense that if you eat less and do more while drinking two glasses of Oolong (Wu-Long) tea a day, the weight loss will occur much faster.
In a study overseen by Johns Hopkins University1, the subjects experienced a 12% increase in fat oxidation that continued over a 24-hour period after consuming Okuma's Wu-Long tea. Over the course of six weeks, Okuma's Wu-Long tea was shown to promote weight loss as the result of a 10-20% increase in energy expenditure (EE), or metabolism. It also stated that Okuma's Wu-Long tea had twice the amount of polyphenols and half the amount of caffeine, in comparison to green tea.
According to the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition2, the subcutaneous fat (which lies just under the skin) was significantly lower in their subjects, and the catechins (an antioxidant) in Okuma's Wu-Long tea were useful in the prevention and improvement of lifestyle-related diseases. These diseases included mainly obesity, but also diabetes, high cholesterol and many others.
Although the International Journal on Obesity3 report was a study with mice, they also concluded that Okuma's Wu-Long tea can be a useful component in the treatment of obesity and fatty liver caused by a high-fat diet and is an effective natural weight loss tea. Okuma's Wu-Long tea inhibits pancreatic lipase activity and the intestinal absorption of fat.
Please note that the above referenced studies indicate the benefits of Wu-Long Tea made by the manufacturer Okuma and are taken from their website. For more information on the specific brand, it is suggested that you visit their website and scour it in its entirety.Â
We have searched the site from top to bottom and have found no indication that the product they produce includes any laxatives, therefore making it much safer as a weight loss product. This does not mean that we are stating that the Okuma Wu-Long Tea does not include a laxative ingredient. It means that we have found no indication that it does and as such seems to be a safe product.
While we endorse no particular brand, from most scientific studies done to date, the consensus seems to be that Oolong or Wu-Long Tea is the best slimming tea available without the added laxatives that can be detrimental to your health.
